Smoking

“Recently I got married and was looking to have children. I really did not want to be a smoker while we were trying and once we had kids. I had been struggling to completely to stop smoking cigarettes for a few years. Had managed to change certain habits but was unable to take it the whole way. I had been a little unconvinced about hypnotism and thought there is no way that is going to work on me. After my husband tried hypnotherapy and was successful I thought I may give it ago. When I first met Paul I found him to be very professional and also approachable. We were both able to speak openly and honestly about the results I was after. I think having that initial rapport is very important to the success of what it is you are trying to achieve. I found the first session to be very calming and relaxing and was quite amazed how immediate the effects took place. The next day I found myself really seeing the whole habit from such a different angle. I started seeing the health effects and seeing it for the addiction it really is. I’m much happier and healthier in myself knowing that I have achieved my goal and that my children will be smoke free. It’s been about a month now and I can’t remember the last time I thought of a cigarette and I can’t imagine ever putting one back in my mouth. I would like to thank Paul for his professional assistance in helping me to reach my goal and would have no hesitation in recommending his hypnotherapy sessions to anyone who is having trouble achieving their goals on their own. Paul thank you for helping me become a non smoker.”
Nivek, Richmond

“Paul, I am writing to thank you for giving me my life back. It is just over a year now and I have not touched a cigarette since our first session. I am so pleased with the results, I have more time, healthier. happier and now don’t have the dread of smoking over my head. I cannot understand what made me smoke or why I did it for so long. I do not and did not miss it at all, all this with a husband who still smokes around me. If I can quit with a husband who still smokes and not feel the urge of desire to try one, anyone can… Thank You so much. Regards
Nancy T, Doncaster Vic.

“I have to admit that when someone suggested I go see a hypnotherapist to help quit smoking, I was skeptical. Given that willpower was not working, nor was the Government scare campaign I figured I had absolutely nothing to lose. Despite this, I really wanted to quit and booked an appointment with Paul hoping he would be the circuit-breaker that would end my habit for good. After my first session, I started to feel a quiet confidence that I could achieve my goal. The next day was going to be the real test. Would the desire to smoke still be there or would be in control? Amazingly, I woke up to find my mindset had changed. I was intensely more focused on the benefits of being a non smoker and found it relatively easy to resist the temptation to light up. It was hard to pinpoint exactly what had happened but I knew it was all positive. Paul had somehow penetrated my subconscious and my skepticism of hypnotherapy was dissipating quickly. I immediately began looking forward to my next session with Paul. This would only reinforce the positive outlook I was now embracing. By the time my third session was done I genuinely felt like a non smoker. Since then, I have not looked back and am feeling the benefits. I have more energy and my breathing and lung capacity has improved. Thanks to Paul I have every chance of staying smoke-free and living a long healthy life. Being hypnotised is not invasive or scary and I can only urge smokers who really want to quit to give hypnotherapy a go. Thanks again Paul”
Nick, St Kilda

“Thanks to Paul I’m now in my second month of being a non smoker. I find it hard to remember why I actually smoked for more than 15 years in the first place and wish I would have visited Paul earlier. Cold turkey, acupuncture, patches – it all didn’t work, but just after the first session with Paul it did the trick – Just amazing. Thank you
Paul.”
Thomas, Melbourne

“Thank you Paul! Like many people I needed to give up smoking for health reasons and your help has been invaluable. How great to be able to book on a Saturday afternoon, to your patience and ability through hypnosis to give me the control I needed to give up smoking after 35 years. Through your therapy I now feel confident that I have the power to succeed.”
Sandra, Werribee

“I had been smoking for over 40 years when I finally had a health scare serious enough to make me realise I have to stop smoking. But, I smoked 35 – 40 cigarettes a day and there was no way I could stop. My last resort was hypnotherapy. Paul was brilliant. He designed a course of hypnosis that would take me through gradually reducing the amount I smoked until I got to the point where I was ready to quit. For the first time ever I was able to deal with the habits that had dominated my life, and take control. After 4 weeks I knew that I could actually quit. Paul came in on a Sunday night to give me a final session after I had my last cigarette. I am now a non-smoker and for the first time since I was 15 I have a life without having to smoke. It hasn’t been easy, but I would never have done it without Paul and his commitment to helping me succeed.”
Linda, South Yarra

“I’ve been a smoker for past 15 years. I’ve tried a lot of different methods to quit on my own but nothing seemed to work. I always got back to smoking. It took me a while to decide to do hypnotherapy, because I always been very skeptical about it. When I finally realised this is the only thing left that I haven’t tried, I’ve decided to give it a go. Paul was great, very understanding and easy to talk too. He designed a hypnosis course for me based on the things that I would like to be able to do when I’m non-smoker. After the first session I become a non-smoker. It was such a good feeling to be able to throw that pack of cigarettes in the bin and feel no regret. I couldn’t believe that is was that easy. I can’t say that in the first week I didn’t think about the cigarettes, I did. But I had a power inside me to say NO. After the second session I got stronger and now even if I sometimes think about cigarettes my mind tells me straight away that I don’t do that anymore. I regret been skeptical about hypnotherapy for so many years; I could of been a non-smoker much earlier. Paul, thank you very much for giving me strength and control to kick my bad habit. I’m a very happy non-smoker and would definitely recommend Paul to anyone.”
Katerina, Endeavour Hills

“I was a pack-a-day smoker and wanted to quit. I had tried different methods of quitting over the years but none seemed to help me or even assist me in quitting. My smoking got to the point where I found myself making excuses for not being ready to quit. I was recommended to Paul by a friend of mine and I basically viewed hypnotherapy as a last resort for me. After leaving the first session, I was pleasantly surprised that the level of craving had diminished considerably and I felt as though I was in some control of the craving. After the second session, I felt as though I was in complete control of my cravings and had no desire to smoke or be a smoker again. I found hypnotherapy to be the easiest and most effective method of quitting smoking, I also found it to be the most effective too. I would recommend Paul to all smokers who wish to quit.”
Nelson, Burwood

“I have been addicted to smoking for the past 7 years. In this time, I have tried numerous methods of kicking the habit. Unfortunately, none had worked. A colleague of mine suggested I should try Paul with hypnotherapy. It worked wonders for my colleague. I have now had 2 sessions with Paul, and I am a non smoker. I do not have any urge to smoke, and the thought of a cigarette makes me feel dirty. Thank you so much Paul. I now have my fitness back, I feel I can breath and I can spend more quality time with my family.”
Paul, Ivanhoe

“I consider myself a logical and scientific man, one who easily smokes a pack a day which is why I could not see how this could possibly work. But I went in just like my wife told me to, and discovered that I had nothing to lose by wanting it to work, with that in mind I walked out with a new attitude and haven’t had a cigarette since. Don’t ask me how it works because I don’t know and don’t care, the fact is, I don’t want to smoke anymore.Thank you Paul.”
Hayden, Cheltenham

“Thank you Paul for giving me the tools and support I needed to quit smoking.I had smoked for around 10 years and felt that it was impossible to give up, however with the assistance from Paul I have managed to go smoke free and am now enjoying a healthier and happier lifestyle.”
I would recommend this to anyone wanting to give up smoking”

Binge Drinking

“A couple of months ago I visited Paul for hypnotherapy to help me with binge drinking. I found my binge drinking had increased in the past couple of years to a level I wasn’t happy with but I didn’t know how to break the habit. After a year of consistent and on going work related stress I noticed I was also drinking to help manage stress. It was confronting to admit that I was having trouble controlling myself but I found Paul insightful and easy to talk to. The most important thing was I did not feel judged for my past behaviours. After a couple of sessions I have stopped binge drinking and I am feeling much better. I have always enjoyed socializing and I was nervous how I would handle social situations after this change, but find I actually enjoy them as much as I did previously. Some of the benefits I have experienced from stopping binge drinking are 1) I haven’t had a single hang over in the last four months 2) I have more energy to exercise and pursue hobbies that I had let slide 3) I don’t lose my possessions when drunk or wonder what happened the night before when I wake up 4) I am more relaxed, don’t have bags under my eyes handle stress and sleep better.”
Kym, Melbourne

“I saw Paul wanting to reduce my alcohol consumption. Various life situations over the last few years led me down a path i wasn’t comfortable with however i knew that i had to make some decisions and do something to give me some new direction. After a few sessions with Paul i have been able to make a few positive changes in my life and I now feel that i have turned a corner on that previous downward path. Paul is very understanding and extremely professional and i would certainly recommend his therapy sessions to anyone seeking guidance and help”

Weight Issues

When I came to Paul I had done some research and considered myself “informed’ as to what hypnotherapy is, but nevertheless I remained sceptical as to whether it would work for me as I tend to have a very analytical mindset to most things.

I had several issues; some fairly significant stress both at work and at home; and I was eating junk food and drinking too much (alcohol) on a daily basis as a way of coping with the stress.”

In just two sessions with Paul I was cured of ducking into the big M on my way home ; and when I came in for the third session I had lost four kilos without even really trying- just by changing my mindset. After the third session I could well and truly feel that the desire to have a glass of wine was no longer accompanied by that sense of urgency, and now, I very much have a take it or leave it approach…..with an easy decision on most days, to leave it.

I have to say that Paul is a delightful, insightful person who made me feel very at ease and has helped me tremendously on my journey, I absolutely do not hesitate to recommend him. The only question is whether you are ready !
Susan, Kew

“I have suffered from Bulimia for 6 years, and have been in and out of psychologists’ offices and group therapy trying to get better. While those things helped me to understand how my problems had arisen, and gave me some amazing coping strategies, none of them gave me the willpower to overcome my addiction to bingeing. I finally made an appointment to see Paul, and I can’t believe the changes I have been seeing in my life. I used to believe that I might never get well, and that it could be years before I’d overcome my eating disorder, but after a few sessions with Paul and a new meal plan that I’ve been on, I have been able to stop bingeing! I have found myself feeling so much happier each day, and I’m so excited about my future without an eating disorder. I feel like the chains of my addiction have finally broken loose. I feel free again! Paul was so fantastic, and genuinely cared about helping me. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to my friends and family. Paul, I can’t thank you enough for helping me.”
Lauren, Richmond

“I went to see Paul for help with weight loss and exercise motivation. I was amazed at how immediate the effects were and am well on my way to losing the last few kilograms. Paul was very professional and I felt very comfortable speaking with him. Not only has he helped me with my problems, but he has introduced me to a new interest. I would (and have) recommend Paul to anyone looking for a great Hypnotherapist.”

Insomnia & Anxiety

“I was diagnosed with insomnia, and post-traumatic stress disorder, after my brother’s tragic death. I had undergone almost two and a half years of psychology therapy, as well as regular doctor appointments. These helped me to some extent, but did not fully resolve my insomnia issue, even after taking sleep medication. Sleep is always important, but especially important to me at the time before consulting with Paul Brickhill, because I had not had ‘proper’ sleep for a period of almost 2.5 years. The lack of sleep dramatically affected my life, resulting in failure or bad university results due to the inability to concentrate, constant muscle pain, fatigue, and anxiety, possibly increasing my depressive state. The first session with Paul was difficult, as I could not fully relax, and I started to doubt that anyone could help me. However, with the second session, I was able to relax into a hypnotic state, thanks to Paul’s natural easy-going and supportive nature. That night was the best rested sleep I had had in years, as it felt more ‘real’ or normal, and I woke up feeling really refreshed and attentive. My depressive state had slightly improved compared to before, and I felt somewhat more positive- something I had not felt in a long time. I also had a lot less nightmares afterwards, and actually looked forward to sleeping at night. I still have regular visits with Paul, especially during states of heightened stressors, such as when I need to attend court hearings, and it has helped me feel a lot more relaxed and has helped me to sleep better.”

Teeth Grinding

“I started grinding and clenching my teeth when my wisdom teeth came in, and then was never able to give up the habit. For five years I put up with constant jaw and neck pain and headaches and the clenching became worse as the pain got worse. Stress or illness would set it off even more, I was diagnosed with TMJ and even managed to sprain my jaw last year. Since then, I was constantly being treated with osteopathy and massages to relieve the tension in my face and head but told there was no real cure, short of expensive overnight mouth plates or Botox administered to the jaw nerve.I’d heard hypnosis could help so I contacted Paul and was amazed to find after just one session, my clenching had all but disappeared. The second session really sealed the deal and now, I don’t have to live with daily jaw ache or migraines. I’m amazed. The relief from that chronic pain is incredible. Thank you, Paul!”
Melissa, Southbank

“I have had bruxism for around two years. It wasn’t the ruts in my teeth that finally got me to do anything about it though. It was my girlfriend. She was tired of experiencing the disturbing sound of my teeth grinding together at night, a sound I myself never consciously heard. The first night after I had been to see Paul I noticed the sound of my grinding for the first time and stopped. The next night, after sleeping the night at my girlfriend’s house I asked if I had ground my teeth during the night. She said I had begun to and then stopped. Two weeks later I went back to see Paul. During the second session I felt myself go into a deeper hypnotic state than the first. Since then my grinding has almost completely stopped. Paul creates a comfortable and secure imaginative construct in which a person is guided to their subconscious to address the issues that are there. It gave me the rare opportunity to shift my thinking at a deeper level than I could do alone. Immediately after each session I also had an amazingly positive elevation of my mood – an unexpected, but very welcome bonus! It was a pleasant and effective experience which I am grateful for. Thank you.”

Phobias

“I have always struggled with medical procedures and sight of blood etc… I have had many opportunities to do first aid course etcthrough work and have always avoided them. I couldn’t think of anything worse! Then my wife got pregnant and we went to the first childbirth classes together … I was there for about 10 min tops! Spent the rest of time out the front white as a sheet of paper. Wife was very disappointed and scared to go to the labor alone. I knew I had to do something! Paul understood my problem and has assisted me immensely. I have now successfully attended all birthing classes and considering cutting the cord and happy to book in a first aid course soon. It is life changing, thanks Paul”
